Four People Killed in Crash

Four people were killed in a major car accident in Des Plaines on Thursday evening.

Piotr Rog, 21, was killed when his Mercedes, traveling west in the 100 block of East Northwest Highway shortly before 9 p.m., collided with a Chevy Impala.

Rog was killed, as was the driver of the Impala, 52-year-old Kevin Crawford, and his wife and daughter, Anita and Kirsten, ages 50 and 20 respectively, who were passengers.

A third car, a Toyota Highlander, was also hit, and two people in the Highlander were treated for minor injuries. A passenger in Rog’s vehicle was also hospitalized in critical condition.

Rog, who had a long history of reckless driving, was found by authorities to have been at fault in the crash. Analysis of the wreckage indicates that his vehicle must have been traveling at least twice the posted speed limit of 40 miles per hour, and may have even traveling as fast as 100 miles per hour.

It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident.

Family and community members expressed devastation at the loss of the Crawfords, who leave behind two other family members: a 15-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy.
