Pedestrian Jennifer Talavera Hit and Killed by Taxi


SAN JOSE — 37-year-old pedestrian Jennifer Talavera was hit and killed by a taxi early Tuesday morning on Monterey Road. According to police records, the woman’s death is the 42nd traffic-related fatality and the 16th pedestrian killed by a vehicle in the city this year.

The victim was identified as 37-year-old Jennifer Talavera by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.

Police responded to a 911 call just before 3am at Monterey Road and Capitol Expressway expecting to come upon a traffic collision. Police have indicated that the taxi was travelling south on Monterey near Capitol Expressway when it struck Talavera.

Talavera was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to reports, the taxi driver remained at the scene until police arrived and is cooperating with investigators.
