Three people died and a fourth was in critical condition after a horrific single-car crash in Irvine, California.
The accident occurred at 1:45 a.m. Friday morning, November 22, 2019. The location of the single-car crash was Harvard Avenue between Michelson Drive University Drive, just in front of Bethel Church. .
There were four young men in the red Mercedes-Benz sedan when the vehicle crashed into a tree and burst into flames.
Orange County Fire Authority and Irvine Police responded to the incident and found the Mercedes completely wrapped around the tree, still ablaze. They found three of the men dead at the scene. An ambulance took one survivor in critical condition to the hospital.
The driver was Jaehyeong Park, 21, from Irvine. The passengers killed in the collision were Kiwook Seok, 20, also from Irvine, and Yoseop Jeon, 18, from Torrance.
At the time of this publication, the surviving victim is still in the hospital. Officials have not named him at this time.
While the crash was near the University of California, Irvine campus, it’s not clear if the men were UCI students.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. Irvine police have reported that they are investigating speed as a potential factor. Currently, there have been no arrests related to this single-car crash.
