Holly Menjivar-Simmons Identified as the Woman in Fairfax DUI Crash

The authorities on Wednesday, February 19th, identified the woman in the single-vehicle crash in Fairfax, California. They released her name as Holly Menjivar-Simmons, 30, of Daly City.

Menjivar-Simmons sustained life-threatening injuries, consisting of internal bleeding and a fractured pelvis. She is still at the hospital undergoing treatment and is still alive at the time of this report.

The injured woman crashed her car at about 11:30 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, February 16th. She was driving along Francis Drake Boulevard when she went off the road near Baywood Canyon Road.

Menjivar-Simmons got ejected from her car, and it took the collective effort of first responders to locate where she landed. Paramedics then rushed her to the hospital in a waiting ambulance.

Local police booked the injured woman on suspicion of driving under the influence and causing injury. Menjivar-Simmons crash did not involve any other vehicle or person, and the harm caused is to herself.

Under California Vehicle Code Law, driving under the influence of drug or alcohol is a severe offence. It is criminal and is classified as a misdemeanor or felony depending on the circumstances of the case.

For either of the two offenses, the offender faces a short time in jail, usually not less than a year, and a fine, usually not less than $2,500. The person also gets his or her driving privileges taken away for about 12 months or more.

Authorities have warned against motorists driving without a seatbelt. Failure to wear one causes ejection during accidents, and having one on helps prevent fatality.
