Arnold Hardimon Identified as Fatal Victim of Two-Vehicle Collision Near Grapevine

On Wednesday, August 26th, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office revealed the identity of the man killed in a vehicle collision near Grapevine, California. Arnold Matthew Hardimon, a 54-year-old resident of Bakersfield, died from injuries sustained in the two-vehicle occurrence.

The car accident report placed the time of the incident around 11 p.m. on Saturday, August 22nd. The California Highway Patrol said that they received a call about the two-vehicle collision, and responded to the scene to find that a 2007 Mercedes CLK and a tractor-trailer collided.

The two were traveling on the southbound Highway 99 south of Highway 166. The investigators said that Hardimon, who was driving the Mercedes, pulled into the right shoulder of H-99 before abruptly accelerating to the left and into the tractor-trailer path.

The vehicles collided, and the victim’s car stopped in the center median while the tractor-trailer stopped in two of the southbound lanes. The CHP said that Hardimon was not wearing his seatbelt, and he passed away at the crash scene.

A 42-year-old woman suffered injuries, and medics took her to Kern Medical for treatment. The crash led to the closure of all southbound lanes on H-99 from around 11:25 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. while the officers cleared the scene and carried out a preliminary investigation.

The CHP said that it appears drugs or alcohol factored in the collision. There is no additional information about the accident or the identity of the injured victim at this time.
