The authorities on Wednesday, February 26th, released the name of the man who died in the two-vehicle head-on collision in Yuba City, California. He is a 67-year-old male, Paramjit Singh.
The accident \ happened on Friday, February 21st, on Highway 113. It occurred precisely south of Knight Road at about 7 p.m.
Singh was heading north on the highway behind a commercial vehicle. According to the California Highway Patrol, the deceased overtook the other car at an estimated speed of 60 miles per hour, which led to the crash.
The act led him into the lanes heading south, and he collided with an incoming vehicle. The two cars ended up on the west shoulder of the highway, with Singh sustaining severe injuries.
He got transported to the hospital in an ambulance provided by emergency services, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the second car, who got identified as 18-year-old, Amber Calonder, from Knights Landing, sustained minor injuries.
The CHP handled the investigation into the crash, but do not think that drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. They also revealed that Highway 113 has two spots that intersect with Knight Road.
One of the areas has a broken yellow line to allow vehicles to overtake while the second one has a double yellow to prevent crossing. The residents of Yuko City have asked city officials to implement new safety measures on the highway to avoid more deaths.
The latter includes repainting the stripping, adding signage, and putting up a guardrail. The requests are still pending, and the highway continues to record accidents.
