The Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles, California, on Tuesday, March 10th, identified the man who died in a motorcycle crash in the city. He is 43-year-old, Hai Nguyen.

The man passed away from injuries sustained when he crashed his motorcycle on Thursday, March 5th, at about 9:27 a.m. The accident occurred precisely on the northbound 101 Freeway and 4th Street.

The police report showed that Nguyen collided with a vehicle and sustained severe injuries. Paramedics who acted as first responders took the then-injured man to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds.

The LAPD is heading the investigation, and they have not revealed if the driver of the vehicle Nguyen collided with suffered any injury. They will update the public once they’ve uncovered more details about the crash.

The state of California is never short of motorcycle crashes with over 800 000 registered riders. Los Angeles is one of the most dangerous counties in the state in the fatality rate of vehicle-motorcycle crashes.

It is closely followed by San Diego, Orange County, Riverside, and San Bernardino. Motorcycle riders are more prone to injuries and death than car drivers because they have nothing to shield them when they are ejected from the bike.

Common injuries from motorcycle crashes are road rash, facial fractures, disfigurement, broken bones, and burns. Some of these injuries are disabling and can lead to amputations, spinal cord injuries, paralysis, and traumatic brain injury.

Authorities have advised that the safest way to avoid severe injuries and death, is for riders to drive their motorcycles within the speed limit, take turns easily, avoid riding when impaired, and wear a protective covering.
