Heather Ballou and Jack Westmoreland Sustain Injuries in Sonora Two-Vehicle Collision

Two motorists have been hospitalized following a traffic accident on Greenley Road in Sonora, California. The incident, which took place just before noon on Thursday, March 12, was reportedly caused by a DUI driver.

The tragic collision happened at about 11:37 am and involved a Chevrolet Silverado Pickup driven by a suspected drunk driver, and another car, just south of Cabezut Road.

The California Highway Patrol reported that one of the victims was driving a 2002 Chevrolet, heading north on Greenley Road, while the other was travelling westbound on the same road.

The northbound vehicle crossed double yellow lines in his course while attempting a right turn onto Cabezut Road, and violently collided with the other car, causing the two drivers non-life-threatening injuries. Medics transported the crash victims to Adventist Health Sonora to receive adequate medical attention.

One of the motorists, identified as Fred Jack Westmoreland, a Sonora local, was determined to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, as revealed by the Tuolumne County police officers dispatched to the site of the accident.

The 50-year-old was arrested and detained at the Tuolumne County Jail on charges of Felony DUI causing injuries. The name of the other driver was disclosed as Heather Ballou, a 45-year-old resident of Murphy.

No other victim was involved in the two-vehicle accident. Further findings by the CHP were not immediately made public. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
