A Modesto man, employed at a California based tree-cutting service company was pronounced dead on Monday, March 16, after an all-terrain-vehicle he was driving spiraled out of control and crashed. The mishap took place on the grounds of private property in the Forestville census-designated area, Sonoma County, California.
A spokesperson for California’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health reported that the deceased was an employee of Mountain F Enterprises, working as a tree cutter, and died in a job-related accident.
Officers of the Kern County Police department determined that the victim was surveying a worksite in the Forestville property located near Highway 116 and Martinelli road when the deadly accident happened. For unknown reasons, he lost control of the all-terrain-vehicle, causing it to crash.
Emergency responders declared the man dead on the scene. The identity of the deceased has since been revealed by the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office as David Ramero Mendoza, a 31-year-old resident of Modesto. He was the only victim involved in the accident.
Cal-Osha, a body responsible for guaranteeing worksite safety, is looking into the fatality to ascertain if possible violations of workplace health and safety standards were responsible for the fatal workplace hazard. The safety department is mandated to compile its findings within the next six months.
If possible industrial safety violations are detected, the tree cutting company, Mountain F Enterprise, could face criminal charges for OSHA violations connected with misdemeanor, felony manslaughter, or other criminal sanctions.
