A woman who died in a two-vehicle collision in Sacramento, California, last week Thursday has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, four days after her demise. Authorities on Monday, March 30, revealed the fatal victim’s identity as Dorris Yvonne Griffin, a 72-year-old resident of Sacramento.
Confirming the tragic occurrence, police said the traffic collision was reported at about 7 am on Thursday, March 26, under unclear circumstances. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased woman was the driver of a vehicle traveling through 47th Avenue, near 54th street in the southern Sacramento region.
While in transit, the car driven by the Sacramento local collided with another vehicle for unknown reasons, causing serious damages to both cars.
The two motorists, who were the sole occupants in their respective vehicles, suffered injuries in the collision and were transported to a local hospital by first responders. Dorris, 72, succumbed to her fatal wounds shortly after her arrival at the hospital.
However, the other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has since been discharged from the health facility following treatment.
The identity of the surviving victim was not immediately disclosed to the public. No further information was released regarding the incident.
Investigations into the fatal accident are ongoing to determine what caused the collision, as well as which of the motorists was responsible for the mishap.
