Police Arrest Gustavo Sampedrosanche for Sacramento Hit-and-Run Accident

44-year-old, Gustavo Sampedrosanche, would need a car accident attorney’s services following his arrest by the police over the weekend. The California Highway Patrol took the man into custody for hitting and killing a pedestrian crossing a roadway in Sacramento, California, on Saturday morning, June 13th.

Before the collision, at about 12:43 a.m., the CHP dispatched officers to northbound State Route 51 near the P Street onramp after receiving a report about someone shouting at cars and running in and out of traffic lanes. While on their way, another call came in that a silver Volkswagen struck the pedestrian.

When the officers arrived, they saw the vehicle with windshield damage drive away. Witnesses told the lawmen that the driver stopped briefly after the collision before fleeing. The pedestrian, who remains unknown, died at the scene.

A short while after, the CHP located a car matching the suspect’s description on southbound SR-51. They also found Sampedrosanche, and he told officers that he knew he struck someone, parked at the right shoulder for a while, but got scared after seeing the patrol cars.

The officers booked the man into the Sacramento County Main Jail. Drugs or alcohol are not contributing factors in the accident, and there is no additional information.

According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, more pedestrians are getting killed in the state. The agency believes that the fault lies with pedestrians and drivers, and the two must work together to reduce the death rate by promoting safe road behaviors at all times.
