A man was detained on Sunday after crashing his vehicle while fleeing police and putting the lives of others, including a juvenile, in danger. Auto accident attorneys may eventually review the charges filed against the felon, who was arrested on Sunday, April 11, in Long Beach, California.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported that the incident began at about 5 pm on the said date. The suspect was allegedly driving his SUV on the wrong lane, against oncoming traffic on the Freeway, while running several red lights and other traffic symbols.
Officers sighted the wrong-way motorist and attempted pulling him over, but the traffic offender drove off at a high speed, with sheriff cruisers on his trail.
After a brief pursuit, a deputy intercepted the driver, using a well-executed PIT maneuver just as he attempted a turn into the 605 Freeway, at Spring Street. The move caused the SUV to swerve sideways, and hit a raised centre divider, before coming to rest under a freeway overpass.
Officers discovered two passengers, a woman and a juvenile, riding along in the car, and enlisted them as witnesses.
Police believed the operator of the fleeing vehicle, identified as Gilbert Angeles, 33, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Angeles was arrested on charges of felony evading police, DUI, and child endangerment.
The crash shut down the north traffic lanes, and southbound carpool lanes on the 605 freeway for hours, until the scene of the wreck was cleared.
Traffic-related offences in the state of Georgia has become a menace over the years, leading to an increase in the availability of practising auto accident attorneys.
Anyone involved in such a case is therefore advised to seek legal counsel from an experienced attorney.
