Arriola Carreno Dies After Motorcycle Fatally Struck a Power Pole in Filmore

Authorities have identified the man who died on Tuesday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with an electric pole in west Filmore, California. The California Highway Patrol, in the accident reports released on Thursday, April 16, named the victim as Arriola Carreno, a 22 year old Filmore local.

The crash took place just before 2:50 pm on April 14, in the area of Sycamore Road and Muir Street, north of Kenny Grove Park.

As reported by the Ventura County Fire Department, Carreno was riding a 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle through the east travel lanes on Sycamore Road, just east of Seventh Street.

For unknown reasons, the motorcycle rider swerved onto the southbound lanes and collided with a power pole located off the north shoulder.

As a result, the cyclist was thrown off the motorcycle and suffered major injuries. Medics accompanying the Fire Department personnel pronounced Carreno dead at the scene, before the arrival of the Ventura County Sheriff’s helicopter earlier summoned, to move the victim to a hospital.

The accident reports confirmed that the fatal victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

It was not immediately made clear whether drugs and alcohol were factors in the fatal collision.

The CHP is still investigating the traffic crash, and have asked witnesses with information to contact the Ventura-area office.

Motorcycle accidents in the State of California are on the rise, with a record number of fatalities reported in recent times. Cyclists are advised to adhere to road safety regulations, obey traffic signs, and ensure impatience doesn’t prevail over reason.
