Mayra Romero-Garcia Arrested for Trinity County DUI Accident that Killed Passenger

A fatal accident that took place during the weekend in Trinity County, California left a driver injured, and a passenger dead. The police believe that Mayra Romero-Garcia, 33, the woman behind the wheel of the car that crashed on Saturday, May 23rd, was under the influence. She would need a drunk driving attorney.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Redding resident a little before 6 p.m. was driving a Chevy pickup south on Highway 3. The woman was precisely north of Slate Creek Road, and going at an unknown speed.

The investigators said that Romero-Garcia suddenly veered over the double yellow lines dividing the south and north lanes. She tried to correct back to the southbound lane at high speed and ended up losing control of the vehicle. The suspect then struck several trees, killing her male passenger in the process.

The woman sustained severe injuries, and the medics transported her to Mercy Medical Center in Redding for treatment. The CHP determined that Romero-Garcia was driving under the influence. They arrested her on suspicion of DUI and causing the death of her passenger.

The investigators are withholding the identity of the deceased male, pending the notification of his next-of-kin. The CHP Trinity River area office is handling the investigation into the fatal accident, and witnesses who wish to give a statement can contact them on their listed line.

A DUI-related crash that causes the death or bodily injury of another is a severe offense in California. Offenders require the expertise of a drunk driving attorney to represent their interests.
