Yvette Herrera Seriously Injured in Taft Two-Vehicle Collision

Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle collision in Taft, California, that left a woman severely injured and hospitalized. On Sunday, May 31, the California Highway Patrol named the injured woman as Yvette Herrera, a 21 year old Taft local. The incident requires the intervention of a car injury lawyer.

The California Highway Patrol officials recorded the incident shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28. The reports affirmed that one of the vehicles, reportedly operated by a suspected drunk driver, drove into the other, leading the two cars to crash into a building near Wood Street and Lierly Avenue.

Initial reports released suggested one of the vehicles involved was a Chevrolet Cruze traveling through the south traffic lanes of Lierly. The driver allegedly failed to stop for a red light at the Wood Street intersection, crashing into a Ford as a result. Officers said the Ford had been eastbound on Wood Street before entering the corner and encountering the Chevrolet.

The impact of the collision forced the two automobiles into the front yard of a Lierly Avenue home. The Ford eventually came to rest after getting lodged in the building’s front porch, while the Chevrolet became disabled a few feet away.

Herrera, who was operating the Ford, remained pinned in her vehicle until emergency responders rescued her. They flew her to Kern Medical Center for treatment of multiple injuries.

Meanwhile, the motorist behind the wheels of the Chevrolet fled the scene on foot, but officers apprehended him a few blocks away. They detained him on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run causing injury.

Injured victims of car accidents should endeavor to contact a car injury lawyer who could represent them and ensure they obtain maximum compensation for damages.
