23-year-old Jose Villasenora would need the legal expertise of a drunk driving attorney following his arrest for a DUI crash in Ceres, California, that killed one person and injured others. The Ceres Police Department took the suspect into custody on Thursday, June 11th, seven months after the accident.
In a press release, police officials said the collision occurred on November 16th, along Hatch Road between Mitchell Road and Moffett Road. The crash report showed that Villasenora was driving a Honda behind a Mazda in the eastbound lane of Hatch.
The man collided with the vehicle, and the two of them crossed into the westbound lanes of the roadway before crashing into a Ford. The Mazda driver died at the scene, while the occupants of the Ford survived with injuries. They received treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Villasenora sustained severe wounds and was hospitalized for a long time. The CPD said he is facing charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing injury, and DUI with a BAC of .08%. There is no additional information.
Driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a severe offense in California. The state’s laws recommend that a motorist has below .08 blood alcohol concentration when driving. Failure to do so amounts to a crime punishable with a fine, time in jail no longer than 90 days, and suspension of driving privileges. If death occurs, the offender faces between 4, 6, or 10 years in state prison.
