NHP Detain Ex-Wolf Pack Basketball Star, Lindsey Drew, for DUI and Speeding

A famous Nevadan basketball player ended up in police custody this week for driving at a high rate of speed on a Washoe County, Nevada highway while intoxicated. The Nevada Highway Patrol officers apprehended the suspect on Thursday, June 11, on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and overspeeding. He would need the services of an experienced drunk driving attorney.

The NHP officers booked the suspect at precisely 2:02 a.m. into the Washoe County Detention Facility, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office booking records show.

According to the jail records, patrol officers spotted the suspect traveling in the area of North Virginia and 14th Streets at about 12:21 a.m. NHP reported that the former Wolf Pack star, Lindsey Drew, 23, was driving at speeds between 11 mph to 15 mph above the permissible limit on the roadway. This prompted the lawmen to pull him over, just south of Lawlor Events Center in Reno.

The Nevada Highway Patrol officers then determined Drew was under the influence of liquor at the time. They arrested him immediately for first-offense DUI and basic speed above the recommended limit, jail records show. As of Friday morning, the suspect had neither been released nor posted bail.

Drew is famed for playing in the Wolf Pack basketball team as a point guard, and for being the son of retired NBA champion, Larry Drew. Following his recovery from a ruptured Achilles Tendon last year, Drew made his last appearance in early March, at the Mountain West tournament hosted in Las Vegas. The Pack’s loss at the games marked the end of the former star’s basketball career.

The sport’s information staff for Wolf Pack declined a request for comment on the incident. As a result of his charges, the DUI motorist would require urgent representation by a drunk driving attorney.
