Two people sustained injuries from an auto collision in the Corning area of California, on Tuesday, June 16th. The car accident report disclosed that Laurie Patrick, 56, and Anthony Barrera, 59, both of Red Bluff, were travelling in the same vehicle.
The preliminary investigation uncovered that the accident happened around 10:55 a.m. in the area of Edith Avenue and Gallagher Avenue. Patrick was behind the wheel of a ’98 GMC SUV heading south with Barrera as her passenger. For unknown reasons, the woman failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Gallagher.
The act sent her into the path of a 2014 Acura SUV travelling west on Gallagher. The vehicles collided, and the impact left Patrick and Barrera with severe wounds. Responding paramedics transported them to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital. The two later got transferred to Enloe Medical Center in Chico, and there’s no update on their condition at this time.
The driver of the Acura, identified as 22-year-old Ana Juarez of Corning, was unharmed from the incident. The investigation into the occurrence is ongoing.
Drivers’ disobedience to stop signs and traffic lights is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle accidents. Running either of the two is a traffic violation in California, and offenders are liable to pay a fine plus additional court costs and assessment fees.
