Motorcycle accidents are not uncommon in California, with over 800,000 registered riders in the state. Common causes of this type of accident are speeding, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, running red lights, disobeying stop signs, and riding recklessly.

Riders can protect themselves by wearing a helmet with face shield or protective eyewear, wear protective apparel, follow traffic rules, ride defensively, and keep operating skills honed through continuous riding education. Additionally, only mount a motorcycle when awake or sober, carry out a safety check before and after, and ensure the clutch, mirror, brakes, and horn are working correctly.
