Victim in Fatal I-57 Crash Identified as Shirley Davis, 48, of DeKalb

After a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning that killed one, authorities in Iroquois County are identifying 48 year old Shirley Davis of DeKalb as the accident’s fatality.

Davis was tending to her Ford Taurus that was broken down in the passing lane of Interstate 57 when a van driven by Daniel Nosek, 56, struck them from behind. Nosek told police he didn’t see the car broken down in the lane.

Riding in the front passenger seat was Davis’ daughter Lacriessa Mosley, as well as two children aged 2 and 5 months in the back seat. The children were all treated for minor injuries at local hospitals.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
