On Tuesday, August 11th, the Anaheim Police Department, California, arrested the woman who struck a 35-week pregnant woman in the city. Garden Grove resident Courtney Pandolfi, 40, would need representation from a top accident lawyer.
The accident report disclosed that the 23-year-old victim was walking on a sidewalk in the 1500-block of Katella Avenue with her husband at about 7:30 p.m. A Jeep SUV operated by Pandolfi struck the woman after the driver lost control and drifted onto the sidewalk.
Medics rushed the victim to UCI Medical Center, where medical personnel saved the baby but could not save the woman who succumbed to her wounds. The police said that the newborn suffered critical injuries and continues to receive treatment at the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit.
Pandolfi sustained minor wounds and received treatment at an area hospital. The investigators determined that she operated her vehicle under the influence of an intoxicating substance, and placed her under arrest. They charged the suspect with suspicion of DUI, vehicular manslaughter, and driving on a suspended license.
The police said that the victim’s husband was uninjured in the collision. The investigation remains active, and there’s no additional information at this time.
