On Sunday, August 30th, the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed in a single-vehicle collision in Victorville, California. The updates made to the accident report revealed the victim’s name as Angel Gabriel Perez, a 27-year-old city resident.
The crash that claimed the man’s life happened on Wednesday, August 26th. At about 12:57 p.m., paramedics and officers with the Victorville Police Department responded to a collision report in the 16200-block of Del Norte Drive near Las Piedras Drive.
When they arrived, officers determined that Perez’s Ford Mustang traveled north on Las Piedras, and he failed to obey a stop sign. The act caused the victim to collide against a wall, leaving him with extensive injuries. The coroner’s office said he succumbed to his wounds at about 1:06 p.m at the crash site.
The police said that Perez was the only occupant of the Ford, and two residents inside the home with the wall he crashed against were uninjured. The VPD’s Traffic Division is heading the investigation into the occurrence.
Motor vehicle accidents are not uncommon on California roadways, and often, the commission of a crime causes traffic collisions. Under the California Vehicle Code, drivers must obey and stop at stop signs and wait to have the right of way before proceeding.
Drivers who flaunt this rule commit an offense punishable by law. Those convicted of running stop signs will pay a fine and serve other punishments as determined by the court.
