Jaime Marroquin Named as Fatal Victim of a Solo Car Crash in Lancaster

Updates made to a car accident report on Thursday, September 24th, disclosed the name of the man killed in a solo crash in Lancaster, California. Jaime Marroquin, 61, of Littlerock community, south of Palmdale, died from injuries sustained in the incident.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 4 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd. It happened on Avenue J east of 85th Street West. The victim drove a 1990 Nissan Frontier east of the avenue.

The car crashed off the side of the roadway, ejecting Marroquin. He died at the scene, and the investigators suspect that alcohol or drugs played a role in the occurrence. Anyone with information about the accident should contact the CHP Antelope Valley office on the listed line.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is responsible for a high proportion of motor vehicle accidents. Drivers who consume a small amount of alcohol are twice more likely to crash than sober drivers.

Motorists who drink exhibit characters of being impulsive, sensation seeking, and adventurous. This is because alcohol reduces inhibitions and affects cognitive brain function. The latter affects judgment, recognition, and reaction time.

Under the California Vehicle Code, adult drivers must not drive if they have .08% blood alcohol concentration or more. Commercial drivers and school bus operators must keep theirs below .04%, while those below 21 must have less than .01%. Anything more amounts to an offense and carries severe penalties.
