On Thursday, October 8th, the Los Banos Police Department took into custody the drunk driver involved in a fatal crash in Los Banos, California. 35-year-old April Sadie Noriega would need representation from a drunk driving attorney.
The police said that the crash happened on Saturday, September 26th, in the 1600-block of West I Street. The accident report showed the suspect was speeding in a 2011 Acura TL when she slammed into five cars, including a parked vehicle.
The victim, a 65-year-old woman, was sitting in the car in front of her home when Noriega slammed into her vehicle. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found an off-duty Los Banos firefighter performing CPR on the woman.
The woman died from her injuries at the crash site, and medics took Noriega and a male passenger in the Acura to Modesto area trauma center. The suspect stayed in the hospital overnight and allegedly fled afterward.
The police said that Noriega’s blood alcohol content was twice over the legal limit of .08%. They could not locate the woman until she met with a Merced County Sheriff’s Deputy for a report on an unrelated matter.
The suspect met with the deputy in the Volta area of unincorporated Merced County, and the lawman learned she was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant. The police booked her into the LBPD jail, where she remained in custody.
They are holding her in place of a $250 000 bail bond. There is no additional information on the arrest at this time.
