Four Injured in Alcohol/Narcotics Related Accident in Avondale

76Alcohol and possibly narcotics are believed to have been a contributing factor in a serious crash that occurred at approximately 2:50 a.m. near the intersection of Kedzie and Elston.  The occupants of the vehicle were all injured, at least one of them critically, when the 1995 Honda Accord sedan the four were traveling in struck a pole in the Avondale neighborhood.  The vehicle was so damaged that the victims of the car accident had to be cut from the car by the Chicago Fire Department.

The driver was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and is reported to be in critical condition. Another man was taken to Illinois Masonic with head and leg injuries, while two other female occupants, also sustaining head and leg injuries, were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital.
