A man was killed on Wednesday evening in a hit-and-run crash while riding his bicycle on Marshall Road in the Patterson area of Stanislaus County, California. The car-bicycle wreck took place at precisely 7 pm and involved a bicycle rider and an unidentified motorist operating a large vehicle.

Detectives who responded to the fatal crash gathered that the cyclist was riding his bicycle along Marshall road, east of Tulip Avenue prior to the tragedy.

A jeep-sized car traveling in the direction of the bicycle rider then struck him from behind. The accident victim was knocked off his bike onto the roadway, causing him fatal injuries.

The cyclist, who has since been identified as Franki Sanchez, 51, was pronounced dead at the site of the incident.
