Sheriff’s Dept: Diane Romain Killed In 2-Vehicle Wreck Near Lansing

Placida

Authorities have identified the woman killed in a two-vehicle wreck Monday morning in Eaton County near Lansing.

Diane Romain, 77, of Caro, died from injuries sustained in the wreck, according to the Eaton County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities waited to release Romain’s identity to local media outlets until Tuesday morning.

Authorities said Romain was in a vehicle that was heading east on West Saginaw Highway at about 6:30 a.m. Monday. While the vehicle was attempting to turn onto U.S. 96 entrance ramp, it was struck by another car that was traveling westbound.

Romain was transported to Sparrow Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to authorities. Another person was in the vehicle with Romain, but that person was not identified by authorities.

Deputies said no one else was seriously injured in the crash, though it still is unclear whether anyone else required hospitalization. The driver of the other vehicle was not publicly identified.

Speed and alcohol might have been factors in the wreck, according to the Eaton County Sheriff’s Department. The Eaton County Accident Team still is investigating the incident and additional details will be released at a later date.
