Carlos Alberto Garcia Identified as Livermore Crash Victim

A 12-year-old boy who lost his life in a crash in Livermore has now been identified by the authorities. The fatal crash took place on Monday, September 21. The identity of the deceased boy was initially withheld. Authorities have now identified him as Carlos Alberto Garcia of Manteca.

According to the details shared by the California Highway Patrol, the unfortunate incident occurred on the Interstate 580. Carlos was traveling in a Chevrolet Tahoe at the time, westbound on I-580. As the vehicle drew close to the Airway Boulevard, the Tahoe came into a collision with a big-rig. The collision caused the vehicle to roll over.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon and was reported to the authorities at around 1:20 p.m. The sheer impact of the collision caused Garcia and another child traveling in the Tahoe to be ejected. Garcia sustained critical injuries in the incident. He was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident. The other child also sustained serious injuries.

Once the first responders and paramedics reached the scene of the crash, the injured child was rushed to a local hospital. The driver of the big-rig remained safe in the collision and had no notable injuries to report. It isn’t clear whether the driver of the Tahoe also sustained injuries, or what was the nature and extent of the injuries.

CHP continues to investigate the incident. Subsequent accident reports from the agency may shed more light on the condition and identity of the Tahoe driver as well as the cause of the crash.
