A vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash at the intersection of Haight and Ashbury, San Francisco, California, left three people injured. The accident happened on the night of Monday, February 24th, at about 9:15 p.m.

The driver of the car, which knocked down two pedestrians, has been identified as Case Estorco, 18, of Patterson. The pedestrians remain unnamed, but the San Francisco Examiner’s Office identified them as men in their 30s and 20s, respectively.

Estorco was driving in the area when for reasons authorities haven’t uncovered, he struck down the pedestrians. The older man sustained life-threatening injuries, while that of the younger man was moderate.

The two men are still alive at the time of this report. The driver, on the other hand, had minor injuries, and the police are investigating to see if he knocked down the men on purpose.

Estorco got arrested and booked at the county jail on suspicion of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and battery of a peace officer. He also got booked for driving under the influence, hit and run, battery causing serious bodily harm and assault with a deadly weapon.

The above charges are criminal under California law and come with severe penalties. The latter ranges from the suspension of Estorco’s driver’s license, fines, to jail time.

The court will look at the circumstances of the case, to arrive at a decision. The driver also faces a civil lawsuit for personal injury should the victims decide to sue.

He will have to pay them damages that are commensurate with the loss they suffered. This would cover hospital bills, loss of income, and emotional and psychological trauma.
