According to the details shared by the Michigan State Police, the driver of the snowmobile was traveling alone on Trail no. 452 at the time. The trail is also known as Betsy River Road. As the snowmobile drew close to the Wide Water Road, the driver lost control of his snowmobile for some reason. The vehicle then veered away from the trail and hit a tree.

Michigan State Police and other relevant agencies continue to investigate the accident. It is not clear exactly why Zackary lost control of the snowmobile so that it left the trail and hit the tree.
