On Tuesday morning, July 21st, the California Highway Patrol identified the man who died in an auto-motorcycle collision in the 13000-block of Piping Rock Lane near Lakeside, California. They revealed the man’s name in updated accident reports as Ryan Ferrera, 39.

The investigators said that the men were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash. They suspect that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident, but haven’t confirmed it. The investigation is ongoing.

Motorcycle accidents often leave riders with severe or fatal injuries. Riders and passengers can mitigate the two by ensuring they have on a helmet certified by the United States Department of Transportation. The helmet must be adequately fastened, have face and eye covering, and allow passage of air.

Additionally, they should also wear clothing that provides a covering for their hands and legs. Ride safely, maintain the speed limit, and take turns and curves slowly.
