A Monday, July 20th, accident report update revealed the name of the pedestrian killed in a traffic collision in Oxnard, California. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office named Alma Rodriguez-Garcia, a 34-year-old resident of the city as the fatal victim.

The woman passed away early Thursday morning, July 16th, and the ME said that the cause of death is blunt force trauma, ruling it an accident. The crash report released by the Oxnard Police Department placed the time of the incident a little before 2 a.m. and the location at the intersection of Channel Islands Boulevard and South M Street.

The police said that the woman was lying on the roadway when a vehicle heading west on Channel struck her. The driver, identified as a 25-year-old male, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. He did not have any liability in the crash, and the OPD did not cite him.

The investigators are trying to uncover what made Gracia lie down on the roadway, and if drugs or (and) alcohol was involved in any capacity. There is currently no update at this time, and anyone with helpful information should contact Office Mike Wood at the station or using the OPD listed line.

Pedestrians and drivers play a role in reducing the growth rate of auto-pedestrian collisions on California roadways. They achieve this by promoting safe road behaviors and following the safety tips released by law enforcement and traffic agencies in the state.
