Christopher Herrera Identified as the Man Killed in a Traffic Accident on I-210 Freeway

The tow truck driver killed in a hit-and-run and DUI accident on the Interstate 210 Freeway in La Verne, California, has been identified. On Tuesday, September 15th, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office revealed the victim’s name as Christopher Herrera, 40, of La Habra.

The man died on Monday, September 14th, at about 9 p.m. The California Highway Patrol said in the accident report that the events leading to the occurrence started with a female driver, identified as Karen D. Floresarrelano.

The woman drove a 2012 BMW 528i eastbound in the No. 3 lane of the Foothill Freeway. It happened east of Fruit Street. The investigators said that she struck Herrera, who stood on the roadway’s right shoulder, helping a disabled driver.

The coroner’s office said that the victim died at the scene. The CHP said that Floresarrelano fled the crash site without stopping, but a semi-truck blocked her escape. When officers arrived, they found the BMW on the right shoulder.

The investigators placed the woman in the highway patrol’s SUV’s back seat while they examined her vehicle. They suspected that impairment played a role in the crash and placed the driver under arrest. They booked her into the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department’s San Dimas Station Jail

The incident led to the closure of the Nos. 1, 2, and 3 lanes of the freeway, but the carpool lane stayed open. The investigators reopened the roadways around 12:45 a.m.
