Nettie Pertkett and Taurean Lee Identified as Danville Collision Victims

On Monday, June 8th, the Contra Costa County Sheriff Coroner’s Division identified the victims of a traffic collision in Danville, California. The updated accident report disclosed their names as Nettie Pertkett, 46, and Taurean Lee, 26. The two are residents of Antioch.

The coroner said that the victims passed away from injuries sustained in a head-on collision on Sunday morning, June 7th. The crash report released by the California Highway Patrol showed that a woman identified as Camille Veraanne Kimball started the event that led to the occurrence.

At about 3:45 a.m., the suspect drove her 2020 Ford Fusion south in the northbound lanes of Interstate 680 near El Pintado’s Road. She struck the 2012 Honda Civic Pertkett, and Lee was traveling in, leaving them injured. Kimball sustained life-threatening wounds from the collision and ended up hospitalized.

The CHP placed her under arrest on charges of felony driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. The investigators are looking for witnesses to the collision, and anyone with helpful information should contact the Contra Costa CHP in Martinez.

Under California law, driving under the influence means that a driver’s cognitive abilities were impaired when he or she was in transit by either drugs or alcohol or a combination of the two. A DUI with death or severe bodily harm means time in state prison, a fine, suspension of driving privileges, and compulsory completion of an alcohol education program for a convicted offender.
