Coroner Identifies Donald Van Riper As Crash Fatality


A man who lost his life in a motorcycle crash over the weekend has now been identified by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau. The 69-year-old victim has been identified as Donald Van Riper of Hemet as per the latest accident reports.

According to the details shared by the authorities, the fatal crash in which Riper died took place on Sunday, August 9. He was traveling eastbound on the State Route 74 in San Jacinto Mountain when his motorcycle ran into an accident. The crash occurred close to the mile marker 56 and involved another motorcycle.

As per the Riverside County Fire Department, the incident was reported to the authorities at around 12:40 p.m. Donald Van Riper sustained critical injuries in the accident. Once the authorities were notified of the incident, an air ambulance and first responders rushed to the scene. When the paramedics arrived, Riper was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash.

It isn’t clear at this point exactly how the accident occurred. Authorities have not cleared whether this was a head-on collision or a mishap between two motorcyclists riding in the same lane. The condition of the other motorcyclist involved in the crash is not known at this point.
