Coroner Identifies Man Killed in Maricopa Crash as Edmond Russell Pritchard

An auto accident attorney’s expertise would be useful after a motorist struck two other vehicles and turned up dead in Maricopa, California. In a new release on Friday, May 30, the Kern County Coroner’s Office named the deceased man as 63-year-old Edmond Russell Pritchard, of Bakersfield.

The incident played out at about 1:40 p.m. on Thursday, May 28. Sheriff’s deputies showed up at the scene shortly after witnesses reported the crash. No fewer than three vehicles ended up disabled on Highway 166, near the area of Pentland Road and Short Road as a result of the collision.

Preliminary reports showed the fatal victim was driving a pickup truck through the west traffic lanes of the U.S. 166. For unknown reasons, Pritchard let his vehicle drift into the eastbound lanes and hit the side of an oncoming semi-truck and trailer carrying dog food. The pickup continued forward a few feet before colliding with a Subaru, driven by Karen Almas, 63, of San Luis Obispo.

The impact ejected the wrong-way motorist from his truck, leaving him severely injured. Paramedics with the response team pronounced Pritchard deceased at the scene.

Meanwhile, Almas and the Chandler, Arizona man operating the semi-truck, survived the wreck. The Subaru driver received transportation to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Additional details are pending at this time.

An investigation into the cause of the fatal collision is ongoing.
