Victim of San Leandro Motorcycle Crash Identified as Eric Beverly

The coroner’s office on Friday, May 29, identified Eric Beverly, 48, as the victim of the motorcycle crash that happened at San Leandro Freeway off ramp, California. Accident reports state that the incident occurred on Thursday, May 28.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to a crash at about 8:13 PM and rushed to the location at Marina Boulevard off ramp. From their findings, they determined that Beverley was alone on his bike at the time of the accident.

For reasons unknown, Beverly lost control of his motorcycle, causing him to strike the ramp’s guardrail. Following the impact, he was ejected from the motorbike and landed on the pavement. The 48-year-old died at the crash scene, though he had his helmet on.

The crash and Beverly’s cause of death remain under investigation by the CHP. Anyone who has information about the accident should call the Hayward CHP office at 510-489-1500.

Motorcyclists must wear helmets whenever they ride their bikes. The helmet offers riders better protection during an accident. However, wearing a helmet is not a license for them to ride dangerously.

When on the roadway, motorcyclists should never go above the speed limits of that particular road. They must also avoid drifting in and out of lanes as this can confuse other road users.

Motorcyclists must also never overtake at bends because it can cause them to crash into other vehicles or skid off the roadway.

Accident reports show that many motorcycle riders involved in speeding crashes lost control of their bikes because of the excessive speed. All motorcyclists must be safety-conscious at all times and avoid doing things that can cause collisions.
