The man who got hit in Polk and O’Farrell, San Francisco, California, vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash passed away on Wednesday, February 26th. The authorities had earlier identified him as David Chow, 80.
Chow has been undergoing treatment at the San Francisco General Hospital for his wounds and seemed to have been recovering. Authorities have not stated if there will be an autopsy into the primary cause of death.
The accident that injured the older man occurred on Friday, February 21st. The deceased was trying to cross Polk and O’Farrell street in the Tenderloin neighborhood when he got hit by a car.
The driver did not flee but remained at the scene to help the California Highway Patrol with their investigation. By doing that, he complied with the requirements of California Traffic Law when there’s an accident.
Nobody is ever fully ready to have an accident. Thus, when one occurs, the driver(s) involved should stay calm, without panicking, and remain at the scene to help with the investigations.
Park at a safe distance that would not impede traffic or cause more harm, and return to the scene of the accident. If anyone is injured, check to determine the extent of the injury and immediately call for an ambulance.
Try to capture the accident scene with a camera, and speak to any witnesses that are around. Then wait for the police to arrive, and answer their questions as honestly and precisely as possible.
Ensure to do the above even if nobody got injured. If the driver has any liability, it’s prudent to contact an attorney and discuss the case with him or her.
