On Sunday, February 23rd, a Fairfax accident along Creek Road cost a man his life. Authorities have identified him as a 74-year-old male, David Dunne.

Dunne tragically lost his life after a car crashed into him while he was riding his scooter. The California Highway Patrol got a call about the accident at about 8:30 a.m. and arrived to find the deceased severely injured.

The paramedics at the scene tried to save the life of the cyclist, but he succumbed to his wounds at the scene. A preliminary investigation by the CHP uncovered that a BMW X5 hit Dunne while he was on his scooter.

The driver of the car remains unidentified, and the CHP has no information about him or her at the time of this report. An investigation into the crash is still ongoing, and the authorities will provide more details as they uncover them.

California has seen a rise in the number of scooter drivers in recent years, and the vehicle-scooter accident has also increased. All over the United States, about 1, 545 accidents occurred involving scooter drivers in the past year.

Some of the common causes of scooter-related accidents include drunk driving, over speeding, driver’s fatigue, and distraction, and dangerous left turns. Drivers have a responsibility to keep an eye out for other road users and avoid hitting them.

When it comes to pedestrians, drivers should yield the right of way when people are crossing a roadway, and within any marked crosswalk at an intersection. Road users should always exercise due care when walking or driving and obey traffic laws.
