DUI Driver, Joseph Macedo, Leaves Three Hospitalized in Modesto Traffic Wreck

The arrest of an alleged DUI motorist, who fled the scene following a two-vehicle collision, calls for the legal intervention of a drunk driving attorney. Authorities said the crash, which left a woman and two minors hospitalized in Modesto, California, happened on the evening of Saturday, May 9.

According to the Modesto Police Department, a 22-year-old woman, and two children, aged 7 and 11, were traveling in a pickup truck. Another vehicle, a black Honda, driven by the suspect, Joseph Macedo, 23, of Modesto collided with the truck.

Police did not immediately establish the events leading to the crash. However, photos taken at the scene, obtained from the Modesto Fire Department, showed that the collision caused the pickup to veer off the roadway and hit a power pole. The impact knocked down the electric pole.

The female motorist behind the wheels of the truck remained trapped in the dented vehicle until fire department personnel rescued her using hydraulic tools. She sustained severe injuries described as non-life-threatening. The two passengers did not sustain visible injuries, but the rescue team transported them to a health facility for a routine check, as per the protocols.

Meanwhile, the operator of the Honda fled the accident scene. Deputies apprehended him a few blocks away and observed that he reeked of alcohol. The breathalyzer test revealed a .08 alcohol level, which was the legal blood/alcohol content limit.

They took him into custody on suspicion of hit-and-run, DUI causing injury, and driving on a license that has been revoked or suspended for driving under the influence. Officers gathered that the suspect also had an outstanding case in the Stanislaus County Superior Court System for DUI and driving when license suspended.

Jail records show that Macedo remains held pending settlement of $50,000 bail bond. Anyone involved in a DUI-related traffic collision can contact a drunk driving attorney for representation.
