At least two people turned up dead over the weekend following a solo-vehicle crash in San Bernardino, California. According to the accident reports obtained from the San Bernardino authorities, the crash occurred at night on Sunday, May 10.

The San Bernardino Police Department dispatched officers to the crash site shortly after 9:20 p.m., following reports of a traffic wreck. Responding officers found at least two people unresponsive in the area of Tippecanoe Avenue and Harry Shepherd Boulevard.

Investigations conducted at the scene of the wreck showed that Felipe Barba, 36, of San Bernardino, was the driver of the vehicle in question. Barba was reportedly driving his car through the road intersection when it crashed. Deputies did not immediately establish the circumstances leading to the crash, or the direction the vehicle was traveling at the time.

First responders pronounced Felipe Barba, and his sole passenger dead at the scene. Authorities later disclosed the passenger’s name as Oscar Villalobos, a 26-year-old resident of Loma Linda.

The accident reports failed to ascertain whether impairment by either drugs or alcohol played a role in the fatal occurrence. No other casualty resulted from the collision. The cause of the incident remains under investigation by the SBPD.

Investigators would look into possible causes like intoxication, distracted driving, overspeeding, mechanical faults, an improperly lit highway or an unforeseen road hazard. Any new finding would reflect in subsequent reports.
