After falling into the road Tuesday morning, 81 year old Esther Lee was struck by a Republic Services garbage truck. The truck was reversing on Pinehurst Court in Garden Grove when it struck Lee.

The driver stopped immediately to help, but Lee was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver was not cited and is not being charged. Police speculate Lee was having some sort of “medical episode” when she fell, but are still investigating. Witnesses reported seeing her stumble before falling off of the sidewalk.
