Akop Daniyelyan Booked for Killing Pedestrian in Accident


A man was booked by the Glendale Police Department for striking and killing a pedestrian. The fatal accident took place on Thursday, September 17. The driver booked for the incident was identified by the police as Akop Daniyelyan, 32, of Los Angeles. Police haven’t revealed the identity of the deceased pedestrian as of yet.

According to the details shared by the GPD, the fatal incident happened close to the Maple Street and Brand Boulevard. It involved a total of three vehicles. Daniyelyan was the driver of one of these vehicles. He first attempted to overtake another vehicle traveling right in front of him. As he did so, he came into collision with a second vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle which collided with Daniyelyan’s vehicle was identified as Alejandro Garcias, 27, of Los Angeles. As the two vehicles collided, the drivers of both lost control. Their vehicles then hit another vehicle that was parked nearby as well a tree. The vehicles then crashed into a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, identified only as a person in 60s, incurred critical injuries and died on the scene of the accident. Akop Daniyelyan and Garcias, in the meanwhile, got out of their vehicles and started arguing. This finally culminated in Daniyelyan punching the other person.

Once the police officers arrived on the scene of the crash, they assessed both drivers. Daniyelyan was suspected of being drunk at the time. He was subsequently charged with DUI causing bodily injury, reckless driving causing bodily injury and vehicular manslaughter. Subsequent accident reports may show if any further charges will be added to these.
