Ahmad Alzobi Charged with Fatal Vehicle Collision in Orland Park

The man who killed a 5-year-old girl in a traffic collision in Orland Park, Illinois, has been charged with reckless homicide and aggravated reckless driving. The Orland Park Police Department charged Ahmad Alzobi, 56, of Bridgeview, on Thursday, September 17th, and he would need a car accident attorney’s service.

The suspect voluntarily turned himself in to the police, and he also faces a charge of driving without insurance. The charges emanate from an accident that occurred on January 23rd at 151st Street and Harlem Avenue.

The accident report disclosed that Alzobi drove a GMC Yukon Denali at 63 mph in a 45 mph zone around 9:30 p.m. in snowy conditions, with the road covered with snow, ice, and water. The suspect went through a red light and struck an SUV carrying two minors.

The police said that the Denali struck the SUV’s passenger side as it turned from the southbound Harlem onto 151st. The force of the collision caused the second vehicle to spin into a snowplow stopped at the intersection.

The impact severely injured the victim, Evelyn Thomas, her sister, Sylvi, and their father. Medics rushed the girl to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she passed away. Her sister and father received treatment at the same hospital before getting transferred for specialized care.

Alzobi suffered minor injuries, and the police conducted a lengthy investigation into the accident. The suspect was to appear in court on Friday, September 18th, for his bail application, but there’s no information on it at this time.
