An accident on the afternoon of Sunday, February 23rd, left two men injured. Authorities have identified them as 93-year-old, Gregorio Solis, and Gregorio Vasquez, 52, both of Anaheim, California.

An investigation by the California Highway Patrol uncovered that Solis and Vasquez were traveling in a 2019 Volkswagen Atlas SUV. They stopped at the westbound side of 91 Freeway seconds before the crash happened.

The CHP said that a gray 2006 Honda Civic suddenly swerved onto the right shoulder, colliding with the parked Atlas. This happened west of Gypsum Canyon Road.

Paramedics who joined the first responders at the team took Solis and Vasquez to the Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana. The two men had minor injuries and got treated and discharged.

The two men were traveling with two women who authorities identified as Francisca Solis, 91, of Anaheim, and Trinidad Solis, 70 of Selma. The two women sustained severe injuries and got transported to the UCI Medical Center.

Doctors at the hospital did all they could for the two women, but they succumbed to their injuries. The 91 Freeway was closed for several hours after the accident while the CHP carried out their investigation.

The authorities have not released the name of the driver of the Honda. Police suspect that the driver was under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred but has not stated if the driver would get charged.

The investigation into the accident is still ongoing, and authorities have once again advised drivers not to get on the road when impaired in any way.
