The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office has disclosed the identity of a man killed by an alleged DUI motorist operating a tree-trimming truck in Santa Rosa, California. Accident reports provided by authorities on Friday, April 3, named the victim as Harry Gee, 69, of Daly City.

The fatality was recorded on the morning of Thursday, April 2, along highway 12, at Oakland Drive.

Initial reports confirmed that the decedent was driving a Honda Civic when an Atlas Tree tree-trimming truck collided with the driver’s side of his vehicle at about 7:30 am.

Following on-site investigations, it was gathered that the truck which was hauling a wood chipper was traveling through the east lanes on Highway 12 when it ran a red light at the intersection.

The vehicle then struck the Honda, which was at the time attempting a left turn from Oakmont Drive, causing severe damages. Gee did not survive the wreck.

Police determined that the Atlas Tree employee, 29-year-old Tanner Robinson, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The motorist was arrested following police interrogation, on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and DUI causing injury.

The suspected drunk driver remains held at the Sonoma County Jail, with no terms of bail specified in the accident reports.

Robinson has worked as a driver with Atlas Tree for two years, with no record of traffic-related offenses in his years of service.
