A man died earlier this week after his vehicle smashed into an electric pole located off the roadway, near El Rio, in California. The tragic incident took place at night on Monday, May 4, according to the accident reports.
The California Highway Patrol said in a statement, that the traffic wreck was called in at about 10:30 pm, and involved a single vehicle that crashed on Vineyard Avenue, a few miles from Central Avenue.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the fatal victim was the driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle involved, a 2009 Nissan Altima, which was traveling through the north traffic lanes on Vineyard.
Just as the motorist attempted a turn onto the adjoining road, the Nissan spiraled out of control and drifted off the highway, coming to rest after striking a utility pole on the side of the road. He suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
Officers are yet to establish what made the motorist unable to negotiate the turn. Responding paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene upon their arrival.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office, on Tuesday, May 5, identified the deceased motorist as Hector Owens. His cause of death was determined to be multiple blunt force injury, as stated in the accident reports.
The tragic occurrence that led to Owen’s demise remains under investigation. Authorities urged witnesses to come forward with helpful information that could help solve the case.
