Nearly four months after a male resident of San Jose, California, had an accident and a month after he died in the hospital, his identity has been revealed. The Santa Clara County coroner on Sunday, March 22nd, identified him as Jose Caetano, 58.
Caetano ended up in the hospital after he fell from a speeding car in the 2500-block of Tully Road. The chain of events that led to the deceased’s accident began with a domestic dispute on November 5th, 2019.
Police officers had at about 11:30 a.m. received a 911 call about a possible-domestic disturbance in a parking lot involving a man and a woman. When the officers arrived at the scene, they found Caetano lying on the roadway.
The preliminary accident report stated that the man had been run over by a truck at least once. The investigation by the officers uncovered that a red Dodge Dakota had driven at top speed from the parking lot, with a woman behind the wheel and a man hanging from the passenger door.
The woman, who remains unidentified, left the scene after hitting the man when he fell off, but later returned. The police took her into custody, but there’s no update on whether or not she’s still behind bars.
Caetano was taken to an area hospital for treatment, where he remained until February 20th when he died. The deceased was the 12th fatal collision victim of San Jose in 2019.
The investigation into the accident remains open, and anyone with additional information should contact the San Jose Police Department.
