A crash in Redding California, involving a motorcycle and a car left a man hospitalized last weekend. The Redding Police Department recorded the collision on Saturday evening, August 22nd.
According to the RPD accident reports, one of the victims, Jacob Pearson, 34, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Lake Boulevard. The other, Stephanie Stearns, 28, was southbound on St. Marks Street in a Toyota Corolla. Stearns failed to sport the motorcycle on time as she turned onto eastbound Lake Boulevard. As a result, the motorbike, traveling at a high rate of speed, crashed into the rear driver’s side of the Toyota, expelling its rider.
Pearson suffered severe injuries in the collision, and paramedics transported him to Mercy Medical Center with serious injuries. Redding officers did not immediately establish if the motorcyclist was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. However, while clearing out the scene, investigators found several questionable substances among Pearson’s possessions.
They include an unlicensed 45-caliber handgun, ammunition, and the drugs paraphernalia and methamphetamine. Reports show that he may face charges related to possession of controlled substances and possessing a concealed weapon once discharged from the hospital.Stephanie Stearns went unscathed. Investigating officers believe she was not impaired when the accident happened.
When car-motorcycle accidents occur, the motorcyclist has a higher risk of sustaining injuries, which may lead to death. Although the fault may rest with either party, it is pertinent for the rider to take extra measures to prevent such incidents.
