The Kern County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday, February 23rd, stated that Jaden Jimenez, 6, the boy who got injured in the Shafter rollover accident, passed away. He died in the evening at about 4:45 p.m. at Kern Medical.
The little boy had been receiving treatment from injuries sustained from the accident at the hospital. The sheriff’s office stated that he succumbed to his wounds, and there was nothing more the doctors could do for him.
Jimenez was a passenger in the ill-fated single-vehicle crash where the car went off the roadway and crashed into the 30000-block of West Tulare Avenue, east of Poplar Avenue. The accident happened at about 3:39 p.m.
The car rolled into an orchard, and when the California Highway Patrol and other emergency services arrived, the little boy was unresponsive but alive. Another passenger in the vehicle, who remains unidentified, suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to the hospital.
Two other passengers, also unidentified, suffered minor injuries. The accident led to the closure of the roadway, as authorities carried out preliminary investigations.
The cause of the accident is still unknown, and the CHP is still investigating. They have asked anyone with helpful information to contact their Shafter office.
Rollover accidents often lead to fatalities, depending on the extent of the crash. Drivers should check their tires regularly and ensure their safety regulations are up-to-date to prevent accidents.
When navigating a curve, drive carefully, and avoid speeding around sharp turns. Also, avoid distractions when behind the wheel, and never put excess load on a vehicle.
